Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS)

Founded as Dar es Salaam School of Medicine 1963. Became Faculty of Medicine of the Dar es Salaam University College of the University of East Africa 1968. Incorporated into Muhimbili Hospital to form the Muhimbili Medical Centre (MMC) 1976. Upgraded to a constituent College of the University of Dar es Salaam 1991. Disestablished by Government by Act of Parliament 2000 split into two autonomous public institutions: Muhimbili University College of Health Sciences (MUCHS) and the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH). MUCHS was a constituent College of the University of Dar es Salaam. Became Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) 2007.
